Focusing on the unrestrained expression of women’s feelings and thoughts, this collection of articles explore how women in the Arabic world asserted control over their bodies, sexuality, and social status. The resources also examine the spatial and gender implications of mashrabiya (or jali), latticed screens commonly found in traditional Islamic architecture, as well as the significance of geometric patterns in Islamic culture.
