This interview between artists Himali Singh Soin and David Soin Tappeser and curator Soledad Gutiérrez, serves as the corollary to the TBA21 exhibition “The Third Pole. Himali Singh Soin with music by David Soin Tappeser” at Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, which took place from October 25, 2022 to January 29, 2023. Ice, memory, time, music, ghosts, rituals, healing, and the rupture of binaries, among other aspects central to the exhibition, are discussed in this detailed conversation. 

“The Third Pole” invites you to venture into a fictional mythology encompassing two bodies of work: we are opposite like that (2017-ongoing), and As Grand As What (2018-2021). The companions on this journey inhabit different temporalities and parallel realities, both traversing a colonial, prejudiced past and dreaming up heterotopic futures, while love attunes us to the catastrophe of the present moment.
