GaiaGuardianxs (2020) is an interactive publication that emerges from three years of research—a personal journey through conflicts connected to the issue of water in Latin America. It examines the complex flows of water in terms of the possibilities for crying, the environmental crisis, and spirituality in the digital era.
Titled “The Blind Toucan,” this first chapter is written from the Hotel Biotermal de Aguas Calientes in Bolivia, an animal refuge in the Chiquitanía. Drought and fires in this region have destroyed more than 4 million hectares of forest in recent years, and it is now burning again.
