This cluster pays special attention to the laws of the Spanish state that articulate Sandoval’s video work for TBA21 on st_age, from the first 1859 Mining Law, to the 1963 Centers and Zones of National Tourist Interest which enabled the urban explosion of La Manga, to the 1971 Joint Exploitation of the Tajo-Segura in relation to the development of the agroindustry that has implied the collapse of the Mar Menor fauna. It considers the reactive and hopeful corollary of the 2022 Recognition of the Legal Personality of the Mar Menor Lagoon and its Basin, together with the activist initiatives that have made this recognition possible. Taking up key issues of contemporary ecological politics from both a Spanish and an international context, it also includes further research in the context of La Unión, where the mining industry developed, as well as the musical dimension of such research (with references to mineras).
