Join the ‘Antarctic Resolution Inaugural Round Table’: a live conversation with Giulia Foscari (UNLESS), James N. Barnes (ASOC), Pascal Lamy (Antarctica 2020), and Emil Dediu (Pew), moderated by Remi Parmentier (Varda Group) and introduced by Francesca Thyssen-Bornemisza (TBA21).
Antarctic Resolution is a transnational and multidisciplinary collective effort curated by Giulia Foscari / UNLESS to raise awareness on the importance of the Antarctic. It offers (for the first time) a high resolution image of our seventh continent and advocates for Antarctic resolutions.
Launched as an encyclopedic volume published by Lars Müller Publishers and authored by 150 leading world Antarctic experts, the research was also presented in the form of site-specific exhibitions in Venice (within the Central Pavilion of the 2021 Architecture Biennale), in Milan (on the occasion of Pre-Cop26), and in Madrid (at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, on the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of the Protocol on Environmental Protection to the Antarctic Treaty).
In Madrid, the installation Antarctic Resolution—produced by Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary as an integral part of its commitment to support artistic research projects that underline the urgencies caused by our anthropogenic world—was accompanied by a round table. Organized in collaboration with the Istituto Italiano di Cultura Madrid, the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, and the Spanish Ministry for Ecological Transition, the round table on Antarctic Resolution saw the participation of international Antarctic conservation advocates from the Antarctic and the Southern Ocean Coalition (ASOC), Antarctica 2020, Pew Charitable Trusts, and UNLESS.
