This Research Cluster brings together a set of resources that aim to contextualize the dramatic background from which Nguyen’s work emanates. These include a recording of the darkly alluring song which sets the tone while giving its title to the piece, as well as the literature around it; reports and articles from NGOs dealing with the clearing of unexploded ordnance and landmines, and their related casualties; CIA declassified documents and US Congress reports on the conflict; together with documentaries, publications, fiction works, and interactive maps about the ravages and the aftermath of the Vietnam War (1955-1975).
