Matías Daporta Artist

Matías Daporta is a transdisciplinary artist working between performance, video, text, and curatorship. Through his practice, he confronts cultural norms and challenges concepts such as cultural homogenization, and bureaucratic language. He emphasizes the significance of altering established cultural paradigms. employing what he terms “literal devices”, which involve recreating real-life situations and transforming specific elements to provoke new focal points. For example, he may stage a casting as a performance to reveal an unfinished movie or go on trial for a predetermined lost case to expose the rituals of justice. In addition to his artistic endeavours, Daporta founded Me gustas pixelad_, a curatorial program exploring the intersection of performance and digital culture. He also established DESFOGA in 2014, a residency program and festival aimed at addressing power dynamics, inequalities, and human rights violations through performances, installations, and exhibitions.
